I bought this laptop as a replacement for my old Compaq Armada. The 305 is the best laptop under 3.5 pounds in the market today. And it is also one of the few min notebooks that comes bundled with a CD-ROM drive. The 4.3 GB hard drive is more than sufficient unless you are planning on running hardcore data intensive applications. The Celeron 333MHz works just beautifully. Setting up the machine was a breeze. Within minutes of opening the box, I was all set and on the Net via the Compaq.net free trial provided with the machine. The Multimedia Expansion Unit comes equipped with a floppy drive, CD-ROM Drive, serial port, parallel port, USB Port and a monitor port. And the award winning Compaq display lives up to its name once again. The Video is crisp and clear and a pleasure to view on the 305.
I shopped a lot for a good notebook. I was about to purchase the Sony Vaio for a steep $2300 but then I saw the 305. Though the retail price acc to Compaq is $2199, it is available for about $1750 and up. The support is excellent. I had a slight problem configuring my Ethernet card with the machine. But, when I called the company, my call was answered in minutes and the problem fixed in a few more.
And for those who are very picky about the looks of the machine, the 305 is a sure shot winner. The silver rough metallic finish with the black interior looks just awesome.
Overall, I strongly recommend anybody looking for a nice and light laptop for daily use in Word Processing, Internet surfing and daily activities to consider the Presario 305. It is not only light in weight but also on your wallet.
