| f8foto's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Pavilion N3295 (F1925A) PC Noteboo... |
I just took delivery of a brand new N3295 HP Pavilion. This model comes with a super-fast Pentium III 600MHz CPU, a huge 14.1" TFT display and a 6GIG HDD and a DVD-ROM. HP's Pavilion presents a very professional and business-like appeal. It does not have the Silver magnesium cover so popular with the Japanese Laptops like Toshiba & Fujitsu.Yet its black finish does have a certain appeal. This model truly packs the punch with a fast processor that can easily handle all your graphics and photoshop work. It came with a 64MB RAM but I replaced mine with two 128MB RAM for a total 256MB which should cope with any situation. This user replaceable RAM is a great feature in the N3295 as you can easily remove the factory installed 64MB RAM since it is placed side by side with the empty slot for easy access.
I like the way the keyboard feels and the thoughtful feature of enabling you to play your music CD even when the computer is not turned on. This all in one design while very easy to use does have a price to pay in a hefty 7lbs weight. The HP name made me decide to buy this laptop and i was very pleased with its overall quality and finish. I had the opportunity to phone HP to register the warranty and my call was answered almost immediately with great curtesy and professionalism. I highly recommend HP for the great product & customer service.
Now here are a few quirks I found with this laptop. I found that I had to press the ON switch at least twice to start the computer. It also takes a rather long time to boot up despite the 600MHz CPU. I thought that with such a powerful Pentium III the boot up would be faster but I guess I was wrong. Also for such a high end product HP should have integrated a RJ-45 LAN socket. This very useful feature was missed out and I had to install a 3COM Ethernet card. The display has a fixed setting for the brightness and cannot be adjusted by the user. This is rather strange as most of the other laptops allows the user to adjust the brightness to suit individual taste and also to reduce power consumption.
I find this laptop works very well with my Canon BJC 80 mobile printer which I set for Infra Red wireless printing. I also hook up my Olympus 3030 digital camera which is connected to the USB port. Unlike other laptops this one operates smoothly and quitely without requiring the cooling fan to be switched on.
If you are looking for a reasonably prices superfast laptop that can cope with all your business and graphics requirements this is the laptop to go for. It is hundreds of dollars cheaper than a Toshiba Tecra with performance to match the best. Save your money and buy a HP and you will be very happy.
