This is the first laptop that I've owned. I've dealt with a few others but this one is definately the best I've used. It was actually bought for school purposes but it does everything that most desktops can do. I'm playing an adventure game on it right now and it handles the graphics and sound just fine.
Just a little background it is the HP N3370, windows, AMD K6-2 550 mhz processor, 64 megs of ram, DVD, 3 1/2" drive, Touch pad mouse, large 14" screen and lots of little extras. One big thing you don't see on many laptops is that it has an internal cooling fan. It helps out the insides by keeping them cooler but when the fan runs it makes the unit a little noisy. I'd rather have my computer last longer than more quiet. One problem I have with it is it's short battery life. On a fully charged battery I wasn't able to watch an entire movie with the DVD. It obviously comes with a power pack to plug into the wall but short battery life kind of hinders it's "portability".
The keyboard is pretty self explanitory. The function key is colored differently than all the rest and matches the different functions on each of the keys. The keys aren't too small either. I have big fingers and don't have any real problems typing.
Plenty of expansion slots for extra stuff. I've already installed an ethernet card to network it with my desktop. Very easy to do. The software was more confusing than the hardware.
The screen is it's big point. It has a beautiful 14" screen. It portrays graphics very well. It's easy to see what's on the screen. It only gets a little darker when viewed from the side. It does a good job with DVDs and video also.
I'm pretty happy with the HP N3370. I bought it last August at $1,800 and I'm sure you can find it cheaper today. At a relatively low price and great quality it is a good buy.
