| houstontexas's Full Review: Lenovo ThinkPad 380 XD (26359AU) PC Notebook |
I have used a 380XD for two years as my business school required all students to own one. These are lovingly referred to as ThinkBricks by students. They are quite thick and weigh over 6 pounds. Screens are only 12", while the standard these days is at least 14". As with most laptops, upgrades are almost impossible. I upgraded my RAM from the original 32MB to 80MB, but in the process, uncovered some driver incompatibilities that took several weeks to get ironed out. IBM was fairly helpful throughout this, but I expected an IBM upgrade to work without problems. I don't think IBM is still selling this line, but as a second machine for home or for a student with a strong arm, this would be a good entry-level machine.
