I had the ThinkPad 240 Celeron 300 MHz for about 6 months. Before changing to TP240, I was using the Toshiba Portege 3015 and had difficult time with the keyboard layout. Best feature in TP240 is the keyboard feel and layout. However the shared direction keys and page up/down key were a real bad compromised. To use the page up/down, you have to keep the Function key pressed which required a 2-hand operation. The sticky key can be enable but other Fn keys will also be active and can give you bad surprises. All the ports are on the notebook which is another great feature of TP240. My screen had 2 bad pixels out of the box; one right in the middle of the screen. You would think that the quality inspector at IBM would notice it. Response I had from IBM was that they do not have reject specification for how many bad pixels are on the screen before they would accept the replacement. This is my second ThinkPad; the first was TP560 and it had bad pixel right out of the box also. Battery life is about 1.5 hours. I knew about it before I bought but can never get used to it. After a while I tend to think that the notebook doesn’t have battery. I always use it plugged in. If you do a lot of typing on a mini notebook, this machine has the right keyboard for you.
