I must agree with all the professional reviews of the ThinkPad 240 which cite its extraordinary keyboard. Having tried the Sony VAIO, the Toshiba Portege 3110CT and the Compaq Armada M300, the 240 outdistances them all when it comes to the comfort and overall usability of the keyboard. I find the Celeron processor more than adequate for most "road warrior" needs. The fact that the unit comes with more than adequate memory and hard drive space is a real plus, especially at the msrp of of $1,999.
My chief reservation involves the screen. Don't get me wrong, it's sharp all right - as a TFT screen should be. However, no matter how I adjust the power management features and no matter, too, whether I'm running the machine on AC or high-power-adjusted battery, the screen is just dim. Could this be because of inadequate VRAM? This is the only spoiler, however. If only the screen were brighter, the 240 would be the perfect super-slim road machine.
