Pros: Thin, light, and fast.
Cons: Speakers are less than desirable. No window's button.
The Bottom Line: If you want a light, powerful machine... I can't imagine anything better.

I must say, long ago as a wee lad in NJ, I felt burnt by IBM with it's PC Jr. line. Promised the world, I was delivered anything but.
With this machine, I was simply amazed. I too got this machine for business purposes but have since then suggested the 600x to two friends who have purchased is and love it.
This laptop is the lightest, fully loaded machine I've ever come across. The machine weighs in at a mere 3.2 pounds (approximate, add about 1/2 pound for the AC adapter). My unit included a superb DVD Rom drive (though IBM's software did not work with may DVD Roms, had to install PowerDVD), and a vivid 13.3 screen.
I've seen this machine is available on ibm.com, eBay and other sites for less than $1800. In fact, TV infomercials were recently selling it with loads of additional goodies at less than $2000.
I firmly believe that IBM makes the best laptops. While certain other brands, particularly Sony, offer a more stylish exterior, they lack build quality. IBM clearly offers the best build quality and durability of any machine I've ever used. Only Toshiba gives is a run for the money. However, be prepared to carrier a heavier burden with Toshibas they weigh about 1-2 lbs more than comparable machines.
Another lower cost option is the I-Series... a surprisingly solid value.
