Pros: Keyboard is the best in the industry. Screen is very sharp and bright.
Cons: Quite heavy. Speakers are terrible!
The Bottom Line: Fantastic keyboard and sharp, bright LCD screen. Speakers could use some improvement. Recommended for business-people who need a desktop replacement.

I bought the ThinkPad A21M because I was tired of having an external floppy to drag around - I wanted everything built in. The disadvantage, of course, is that this machine - which is in the desktop replacement category - is not built for easy portability. But I knew that. The advantage is that it is hundreds of dollars cheaper than a similarly configured T21, IBM's entry in the portability category.
Let's start with my one real complaint - terrible sound. There are two speakers above the keyboard (IBM finally figured out not to put them below the keyboard, as in the TP600, where your palms will cover them as you type). These speakers are probably among the worst in the industry. They don't play loudly without distortion and don't sound that good even at low volume.
Okay - now for what I love about this laptop. The keyboard is the best with a solid feel and great layout and spacing. The power button is on top of the keyboard, so you don't have to fumble around looking for it. The hard drive and memory are easy to upgrade. The screen is very, very bright with no imperfections at all. Battery life is quite good too - I got 120 minutes of heavy use with all the power- saving settings turned off. Durability is high and it is not easily scratchable like the TP600, so it is likely to look good for a long time.
Overall, I would highly recommend this machine for those who don't need high-quality sound built in (business-people or those with external speakers).
By the way, the A20 series has a one-year warranty while the T20 series has a three-year warranty. This is something you might want to consider.
