Pros: Light weight, economical, decent software bundle
Cons: No infrared, serial port, or floppy drive.
The Bottom Line: I do not recommend this particular laptop to professionals who need all the same functions that a desktop has. I can only recommend this for college students.

With no serial, infrared or floppy the functionality of this laptop is very limited. Most cellular phones use infrared or serial port hook-up so accessing the internet while in your vehicle is not a possibility.
The display is good but not recommended if you want to work with graphics, photos, or play those graphic intensive games. I do use the laptop as an upload device from my Kodak DC3400 with a PCMCIA card adapter so that I can empty the camera get a quick idea of how the shot looks and make corrections in lighting, poses, etc.
There are several issues regarding modem and soundcard function that have yet to be resolved as well as using a PCMCIA card (this always causes the modem and sound card to quit working with this particular unit).
I use a 3Com PCMCIA ethernet card to connect the laptop to my home network in order to transfer data and it never fails that I have to re-install the drivers for the modem and sound card. Annoying but for the price I put up with it.
Bottom line is you get what you pay for. If you are a professional that needs desktop features then you definitely don’t want this laptop.
I could only recommend this laptop for use at college so they can work in their dorm, in the library, or at home while visiting their relatives.
My support so far has been adequate, IBM tries to help and has so far replaced the main board on the laptop. Microsoft and IBM need to come together on support better, each wants to point the finger at the other which in the end results in the customer getting no where.
The customer typically doesn’t care as long as the problem is remedied. I respect a company that can say oops and offers a solution over one that tries to push the blame to another.
