The only problem was installing Windows 98. When I installed 98 the first time I noticed the screen was reduced by 50 %. The CF-71 laptop did not like the Windows 98 drivers. After installing Win 98 I had to go back in control panel & detect new hardware & install new video drivers using the CF-71 disk that came with the laptop. If you don't have one the latest drivers can be downloaded from the Panasonic site (the best one is in Canada "www.panasonic.ca" (I think).
Spec's:Pentium II 300MHz. 64MB RAM 6GB Hard Drive touchpad mouse USB port
WATERPROOF screen,WATERPROOF Keyboard,Magnesium case, swapable floppy or CD Drive (DVD is now available($$$)) and a nice carrying handle.
The manuals can be downloaded from Panasonic as a pdf file.
I haven't been able to get the Hibernation or Write pad software to work with Windows 98. The laptop is lightweight (because of the Magnesium case) and can handle the roughest environment. But it's excellent, sturdy, well built and would take anywhere.
I have been offered a swap, my CF-71 for a DEll lattitude 400MHz.+DVD Laptop and have said 'no way'!
p.s If you highly recommend this review, I get paid.
