| stmlrock's Full Review: Sony VAIO SR5K PC Notebook |
I received a Sony VAIO PCG-SR5K as a Christmas gift last year. From the day I got it, it's been nothing but trouble. When I was online, it would freeze several times, or show an error message. One day in February, I turned it on and the monitor had white lines across it. I called Sony Support and e-mailed them and it took a week for me to get a real response back. I wrote a detailed list of everything that was wrong with the computer and sent it back [after waiting for them to send me a box for transport] to the manufacturer. I received the computer back in 8 days, and the only thing that was fixed was the monitor problem, not any of the problems with the error message and the freezes. I persisted though, and just last week I turned my computer on and found it wouldn't function in anything other than Safety Mode. I called Sony Support, AGAIN and had to stay on hold for nearly an hour. The customer service reps are pleasant but hardly helpful. As it stands, my computer is back at the manufacturer. I should have gotten it back already, but I haven't yet. If Sony doesn't fix all of the problems this time, then I am going to ask for a refund and purchase a different type of laptop. No computer is perfect, but the saga this laptop's put me through is ridiculous. Beware before you buy.
