| jeffs320's Full Review: Sony VAIO C1X PC Notebook |
The day I came to work for Sony I saw one of these and thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. Well, almost the coolest...girls are pretty cool, too!
This notebook computer carries more power than my Dad's desktop computer (OK, so he has had it for 5 years, but the point remains), and it can fit in your pocket if you do it right! A quick word of advice, if you are 300 lbs and put it in your back pocket (cause you KNOW it would fit in one of those huge pockets) and sit down, it WILL break and it will NOT be covered under warrantee. Just FYI...
Anyways, it is ultra light and portable (duh - look at the picture and you will see how small the stinkin thing is) and you can take it just about anywhere. I am not quite sure how it will hold up in a zero gravity environment, but I do know that it will not hold up in a fat person's back pocket environment... (Just for the record, I actually had to try to explain to some guy over the phone why the repair was not going to be covered due to user damage since he sat on the computer)
Here is one thing that I have been trying to figure out about this computer, and if anyone has the answer, leave me a comment about it...If you take this computer on a space ship that travels faster than the speed of light, will you be able to see the picture on the screen, or will it end up behind you since you are moving faster than the light that is being used to put the picture on the screen? Just curious...
Anyways, back to the computer. It has a built in camera on the screen that swivels so you can get a good angle on the camera. This works well for video conferencing (MS Netmeeting is pre-installed) as well as just sending pictures to Grandma.
The main focus of this computer, partially (mainly) due to the camera, is for Real Estate Agents. If you get a modem that supports a cellular phone connection, you can show property to customers across the internet through teleconferencing. Pretty slick, huh?
The only thing I don't like about it is that it is too slow. It is pretty impressive for a computer of this size, but since this one came out there have been two upgrades to it and now the latest (PCG-C1VN) is pretty stinkin fast!
