Pros: Looks cool
Cons: The synch doesn't work!!!
The Bottom Line: Don't buy it.
If you did and you have problems; don't let them blow you off.

| psiebers's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Jornada 545 Pocket PC |
After supplying my CEO with a Jornada 680 two years ago(see my review) and the good experiences I had with the PDA, I decided to get my wife a 548.
It hooked up just as easily and seemed to synch almost right out of the box. However, after only a few days the synch engine started acting up. I ain't no dummy and told my wife to leave the install up to a pro(me). Lo and behold, I couldn't get the thing to work either. With my reputation in the household at stake, I called HP's tech support which put the blame on Microsoft's lousy CE ActiveSynch software. I was assured that a download of the latest version would work.
You guessed it. Nope. Didn't work at all. In the mean while I have tried to synch over USB, serial cable, win 95, win 98, NT, 2000. Just about anything. It just won't work. It will make a connection, but then during synching it hangs. I am stumped and so is HP's tech support.
Now if my problem was just an isolated case...
My CEO was so happy with his Jornada 680 that he bought his wife a 548 as well. You guessed it again. Slightly different symptoms and error messages, yet with the same end result. No synch. He too has taken the problem up with HP, and he too has yet to synch the Jornada 548 successfully.
In HP's defense, I must say that their helpdesk is very nice and courteous. However, someone in upper management should oversee the correction of these types of problems, because I foresee a future with plenty of lawsuits. In the meanwhile, they can count on two more returned Jornada's as of this afternoon...
