Pros: Sleek look, reliable and precise operation. Excellent value for college students.

| punjabi2001's Full Review: Handspring Visor Edge Handheld |
Like most of you reading this, I tried the conventional leather-bound personal organizer and was seriously put off by its bulk and lack of ingenuity. I longed for the day that the Palms would drop into the income range of a college student, and I was almost ready to settle for a Palm IIIe.
Then I heard about Handspring.
I bought it halfway through October, and it took more than seven weeks to get to me. First semester was pretty much over by then, but it was definitely worth the wait. Everywhere I use it, it turns heads. I don't take it out in public anymore because it draws too much attention. In between semesters I did some traveling, and I made the mistake of taking it out on the plane (hey- I was bored and it was a long flight). Within five minutes it had made the rounds among curious businessmen who had just shelled out small fortunes for a Springboard-less Palm V. It looks so much better than a Palm III, and my friends who have Palms all want to trade theirs in for a Visor.
Ok, ok, so enough about its looks. You want to know how it functions?
Seamlessly. Precisely. Reliably. Comfortably. Invaluably.
I can't imagine going to work or school without it. It fits in your pant pocket, or in your schoolbag, and probably weighs less than most wallets. If you have a busy schedule, and want to organize your life in ways you never thought possible, AND have budget constraints, there is no more logical choice. I paid $179 for mine with the cradle. Oh, and I'm sure you know by now that all the Palm software works on it, like AvantGo. And I'm counting down the days until InnoGear releases their MP3 player as a Springboard module...
And I'm not sure if I can get in trouble for this, but the infrared on the Visor works with the infrared on any Palm. I've swapped programs with Palm III's and V's, and they've been able to swap with me. The Visor truly is the best of both worlds, being its own unique item and still being compatible with all that is "Palm."
Yes, it took a long time to get to me, but this was when it first came out. I recently saw it being peddled in a BestBuy ad. If they're selling it, there's no reason you shouldn't go pick one up- you'll save on the shipping costs. If you have any questions for me, please feel free to email me and I'll be happy to share my experiences with you.
One last thing- I don't know how Handspring's top brass let the name Visor get on this thing. I always think of it as "my Handspring." I tried referring to it as a Visor and it only confused people who thought I was talking about a hat. Yes, it seems silly, but why don't you try walking up to someone and saying, "Hey, have you seen my Visor?"
