I have been a Palm PDA user for the past 2+ years, most recently the Palm IIIx.
When I saw the Palm V, I was impressed with the form factor but I did not see any new capabilities when compared to the Palm IIIx.
When I saw the Palm IIIc, I liked the color, but again that was not enough to upgrade.
About 6 months ago I decided that the only way I was going to upgrade my PDA was when there was a device that offered color AND some additional capability...errrr...wireless.
When the Prism was released, I could not get one quick enough. A month later I signed up for the Omnisky wireless service using the Minstrel S springboard wireless modem.
The Prism performs flawlessly and is faster than Palm III or V due to the faster CPU. Even after looking at the color of the Prism for 5 minutes, I could not bear to look at my old monochrome Palm IIIx again. Many say that color is not essential, which may be true, but once exposed to color you will NOT go back! Due to the heavier power requirements, a rechargable Lithium Ion batter is used. I can get 5-7 days of moderate use before draining the battery.
Limitations include lack of Flash ROM which may limit the updatability of the Palm OS in the future. Small patches CAN be applied and was done very recently by Hanspring. Also limiting is the lack of 16-bit color software (and color software in general), but this sould be remedied given time.
Anyway, count me as a happy Palm to Handspring convert!
