Pros:Color Screen, Springboard Slot, USB Hot Sync
Cons:Size, Internal Battery, Color Screen in Sunlight
The Bottom Line: The expansion slot for the Handspring makes puts it a cut above Palm.

I purchased my Prism from Ebay from $310 which at the time was a really good price. The price has dropped considerably since then and can be found for just over $300.

I am not a real busy guy that needs to keep all my appointments somewhere but after using a Palm IIIe I was hooked on a PDA. Suddenly I had all kinds of things I could put in a PDA!! I upgrade to the Prism for 1 reason: the Springboard expansion slot. This slot adds a ton of functionality to your PDA. You can get a digital camera, a GPS device, MP3 player, and much more. I bought the Eyemodule2 (see my review for info on it) to use to take photos on the go.

Software is easy to install especially with the USB Hot Sync cradle. There are all kinds of applications that you can download (some are free). I love to play games and read books using PeanutPress' PDA software.

Now there is a down side to the prism. It is huge as PDA's go. I thought the Palm IIIE was large but the expansion slot adds quite a bit of thickness to the Prism. That makes it alot harder to stick in your blue jean pockets!! The screen is difficult to see outside in the sun. The battery is internal and rechargeable, this forces you to buy a travel charger if your going to be away from your cradle for a long time. The Prism is power hungry

All in all the Prism is a good first color PDA. If you are new to PDAs in general and not sure if you will use it invest in one of Handspring's cheaper B&W models.
