lowesman's Full Review: Handspring Visor Pro Handheld
I recently purchased a Visor Pro as an upgrade from my Visor 2MB that I purchased a year ago. Let me just say that it was one of the best electronics purchases I have ever made!
I keep a great deal of addresses and memos, as well as an extensive appointment calender in my Visor, which doesn't take a great deal of memory. However, I also enjoy NASCAR racing and have been wanting to download a very nice NASCAR database that I had found on PalmGear.com. The file was 1.5 MB which I was not able to download to my 2MB Visor before. Now, with my Visor Pro, I carry the entire race season, driver info and all relevant info close by at all times. I was also able to download and store a copy of the entire King James Bible and Bible reading schedule.
The memory capacity of the Visor Pro becomes unbelievable whenever one considers that most ordinary Palm applications are 10K or less.
In all, I have six different stargazing applications and databases, Pac-Man, Galaxian, and four other games, my entire date book entry list, a complete listing of all DVDs I own and want, several memos, the entire KJV Bible and NASCAR database and still have 11.6MB of memory available!
On the issue of processor speed, I can tell a slight difference in speed. The recall speed is somewhat faster, although even the slowest handheld processor is not terribly slow.
The fact that the Pro has a built-in rechargeable battery is a nice addition also. This eliminates the need to carry spare AAA batteries in my organizer, not to mention the expense of buying the batteries to begin with.
Overall, there is nothing bad I can say about my new Visor Pro. The major memory capacity is the biggest plus. As a result, I don't forsee the need to upgrade ever again, unless of course I see the need for color.
