| mattski's Full Review: Palm V™ |
I've owned a Palm device for years. I got a Palm Pilot Personal way back when and it has been my constant companion. Lately though, it had started looking a little worn (it has been through hell) and I couldn't run Java on it, something I wanted to do, so I figured I needed to upgrade.
The fact that my personal stood up to so much abuse and still functioned flawlessly cinched the deal that I wasn't going with anything but another Palm (no WinCE for this boy!).
I went for a Palm V because of the sleek design, and I'm really glad I did. I used to have to carry my Personal. The V fits neatly in my shirt pocket and doesn't weigh me down. Much more convenient.
Java runs fine (neat!). So does everything else. For content, you just can't beat a Palm device. The screen on the Palm V is a little nicer than the one on the personal too.
My one beef is that when it's in my pocket it sometimes turns itself on and then a little pressure activates buttons via the cover. Really a bit of an annoyance, but at least it's non-destructive. The worst it could do would be run the battery down prematurely.
Speaking of battery, the rechargeable is really nice too. Even though you only have to replace batteries in the other Palm devices every month or two it is still nice to not have to worry about. A charge seems to last at least three weeks or more (lasted all of Christmas vacation, 2+ weeks and still had plenty of legs).
Overall, I couldn't be happier. Like I said, you NEED one of these...
