| dijitalboy's Full Review: Sony CLIE® PEG-S300 |
After trading in my Handspring Visor Deluxe, and giving the iPAQ a try (see my opinion), I finally got the real deal.
Size/screen: It's a bit narrower than a PALM V but just a bit thicker. Barely though. It's as light as a feather. I think it's about 1/2 the weight of a PALM V. It's screen is awesome, similar to the PALM V quality but the backlighting is superb. Holding it next to my roommates PALM V, it puts PALM to shame.
Features: Jog dial is amazingly convenient but it doesn't apply universally to all PALM programs. But the two most used programs, DateBook & AddressBook, it works well and doesn't require you to use your stylus. One hand operation for access to all your contact and calendar data.
Memory Stick: Besides the fact that you can't run programs off of it, you can store things there. I primarily use it for storing books and other reading material (from MemoWare.com) to read when I get a chance. Be sure to download a reader that is capable of reading off of it, such as iSilo. I store about 2 Megs of books on the memory stick and keep that space free on my CLIE RAM.
Other: Beautiful design, elegant looking, and Functional. OS 3.5 is a huge improvement over the little annoyances of 3.0. And since the ROM is upgradeable, I'm looking forward to OS 4.0.
