Pros: Highly useful, lightweight, affordable, and compact alternative to laptop computer
Cons: Need word processing program, prop-up angle awkward, keys a bit soft
The Bottom Line: If you're considering it to enter daily appointments, it's not worth it, but if you're compelled to take massive quantitites of notes on a regular basis, it's worth every penny.

Goodbye to the days I was forced to lug my 8-lb. laptop (plus accessories) to take notes in class, everyday. The bottom line is, if you're considering the keyboard to ease your ability to enter your daily appointments, it's not worth it, but if you're a student, or are otherwise compelled to take massive quantitites of notes on a regular basis, this keyboard attachment to the Palm Pilot is absolutely worth every penny.
All my classmates ogle in envy at the fact that while they have to boot up and shutdown their huge machines, I zip up my keyboard, toss it in my bag, and go!
Of course, I can still play solitaire, and more, when class gets a bit boring. I have all the vital functions of a laptop except this fits in the palm of my hand. The memory of the Palm is perfectly adequate to hold many, many text files - I have yet to encounter a space problem. When Hot Sync-ing, it's easy to transfer all the created files into MsWord.
You do NOT have to learn any shortcuts on the keyboard. I can't imagine which you would need. If you want to switch to the address book, just press on the button that says, "address," or press the Palm Pilot itself! It's right there!
Now to the down sides.
The "Memo" function of the keyboard is not capable of bolding, italicizing, bulleting, or underlying - all things you need for a real word-processing. I have yet to download a real word processing program but even if I had to pay some money for it I would not mind, because that would effectively transform my Palm into the behemoth laptop into which I am typing.
The screen is, of course, small. It's what you paid for, right? Which means, the Palm is great to ENTER tons of info into, but not to read large amounts of text on.
The keyboard will require a flat surface. A large enough book would do, so I don't see what the big fuss is. This simply means, you can't use it on your knees, but you can use it perfectly well on the airplane tables.
The prop-up angle I do have a real bone to pick about. I wish that they had made the angle a bit more perpendicular because as it is currently situated I have to crane a bit to read the screen.
As for the keys, because they designed the keyboard to be so very light, the keys are of the light, slack kind. A light touch is enough. Some people prefer that, but I prefer a hardier touch sensitivity.
All in all, I adore my little keyboard and am so glad I have it. Every time I pick up my laptop I am reminded of how essential a tool my Palm Pilot has become thanks to my keyboard.
