| Meta4Wzrd's Full Review: Canon BJC 1000 InkJet Printer |
Speaking on behalf of all people who are decent and care for their customers ... DON'T BUY THIS ... I've seen many a printing dream defer with the purchase of this printer ... Now, to discontinue any "bashing" I'll simply lay out the facts
FEATURES
. 600x600 dpi resolution
. Top sheet feeder
. Single cartridge
. Parallel printer
THE DREAM
. Hey, this printer is free with my computer purchase as long as I use these rebates
. It's cost effective, small and has pretty good print quality
. I'm sure this printer will last as long as I have my computer
. It's also good because Canon ink cartridges are the lowest priced
THE REALITY
. It has a resolution of 600x600 which actually isn't that bad
. It is single cartridge - which means that every time you wish to print in color, you have to switch cartridges ... and once you want to print black and white you have to switch cartridges again ... Doesn't seem like a big problem until you have to deal with it
. Also on the single cartridge, some applications will allow you to use a color cartridge to print black ... But for those who don't pay much attention to art, all the colors on the color spectrum mixed together make black - MEANING?, if that cartridge has to continually use all the colors on it, it's going to wear out really fast ... Though they don't cost much, it will add up quickly at $14.99 a piece
. Printing is relatively slow, so I wouldn't suggest printing out long documents (such as term papers, research papers, lists ... etc.) unless you have a little time to waste - It prints actual documents at about 3 or 4 pages per minute black and 2 pages per minute color
A HELPFUL TIP
. Don't spend 79 dollars on this printer ... It just isn't worth it as far as being cost effective
. I know it seems like you'd be getting a good deal, but you really won't ... If you would like to get a Canon printer, I would suggest going with the Canon BJC-5100 ... It costs more, but is well worth a little extra money
. Working at Best Buy, I saw a lot of these come back due to being defective within the first month (that could vary per store and usage, so it's not an actual fact ... just an observation from my store) ... and even our demo model failed to work a couple of times
. I would suggest spending a little more money and at least getting the Canon BJC-2000 which is a little bit better
Thank you for your time and effort ... take care
