I bought this printer about 6 months ago. I have hated it ever since. If not for fear of ending up on several readers' WODs, I truly hate it enough to type "I HATE THIS LOUSY PIECE OF CR*P" repeatedly until cramps set in.
1) For those of us with the antique computers that don't have a CD-rom, you have to track down the printer driver on the internet, and download it from there. Not only am I poor and antiquated, but I'm an idiot, too, so it took me about six tries to get it loaded, and each time I had to shut down my computer, reboot, re-sign in to the internet, re-find the sight, etc.
2) The cartridges are a joke. If you don't use the printer everyday the cartridge dries up. If you use it everyday, it gets used up within a week. In the course of one cartridge, we printed meeting notes for Girl Scouts, about 5 copies of a resume, some shells for home-made cassette tapes, and a couple of minor things in between. That's it, and it's run out. I'm serious. They cost upwards of $35.00 and that's all we get!
3) The paper feeder inhales vacuously (sucks). If you have more than one sheet in the feeder, it will try to take every last one of them at the same time. If you only have one in the feeder, it will get pissy and make a bunch of clackety noise and then throw an error message that makes you have to turn it off to clear it.
I'm not sure if I have made myself clear on my true feelings here. It's a waste of 125 clams that could have been used on a down payment on an HP. Don't waste your money.
