| laurbrown's Full Review: Canon BJC 2000 InkJet Printer |
I just got this printer about four months ago, and am not thrilled with it. It functions fine, but the print quality is always in question. Often, the type is crooked or wobbly, the page has many blank lines, and/or pages come out with ink blotches or long smears. These sort of occurances happen usually every 1 out of 6 pages, but it becomes a great hassle to always have to reprint one of the pages of a paper. The printer wasn't very expensive to begin with--I paid about $150 for it, and then got a $50 rebate, it has not shown the same durability as my old trusty Epson Stylus Color, which I have used for the past 5 years. While the Epson does occasionally have similar problems, they occured less frequently and after a longer duration of time than with the Bubble Jet. Cleaning the print heads always seemed to have far more positive effects on the Epson than on this printer.
Pros: Extremely simple to use -- there is one button on the whole printer, and it was a cinch to install. It also takes up very little space, and is easily moved because it is so lightweight. I have yet to experience a paper jam. The color quality is good for such a cheap price, but by no means high quality color.
Cons: My biggest problem with this printer is the ink cartridges. I was attracted to this printer by the inexpensive cartridges, (about $10 for a black cartridge, compared to $20-30 for nicer HP or Epson printers) but be forwarned: these cartridges do not last as long. I had to change my Epson cartridge maybe once every three or four months, and in the four months I have had the Bubble Jet, I am on my third cartridge.
Overall, I would recommend this printer for anyone who is not too serious about printing stuff out, and just wants a cheap way of printing the occasional paper/recipe/email or things like that. If you want a high quality print-job, patience is key, as some pages occasionally need to be reprinted because of glitches. For those with more extensive printing needs, shell out a little more money and get a nicer Epson or HP printer, or just stick with a laser printer.
