This is by no means the best printer on the market, but if you don't have a lot of money to spend and need something that will do the job fairly I would recommend you try this printer.
I got this printer through a deal put on by a local store. I got a printer and scanner with my computer package, and so now I sit here with my computer, printer and scanner (I'm living the high life!!). I have found though that this printer does what you want it to with no real frills or excitement, but then again, how much excitement do you really get from watching a piece of paper go through a machine?
This printer is fairly fast, I have printed five pages in about a minute, much better than the last printer I had. Also, the print is clear, and rarely do you have smearing problems. I had a problem with the ink smearing during printing with my old printer, which meant that I had to clean the head more than once a month. So far I have only had to clean the head of the printer once in the year that I have owned this printer.
The other great thing about this printer, is that it has pretty good print quality. I have printed many pictures (on picture quality paper) that have looked just like the original copies. I printed a picture of me for my boyfriend and his mom didn't believe me when I told her that I had done it on my printer. That is how good this printer can look.
I also like that the print cartridges are fairly cheap compared to their counterparts. With my old printer I had to pay around $30 per cartridge, but with this printer I usually pay less than $10 per cartridge. Unfortunately I usually have to change the cartridge more often than my last printer, but for the cheaper price it is not so bad. And if you don't print a lot of color pictures the color cartridge actually seems to last for a long time. I have yet to replace the color one, but that will be coming up soon (and I believe the color cartridge is slightly more expensive than the black one).
The only real problem I have had with my printer is that it likes to take more than one page at a time when printing, so I find it hard to do many pages in a row, as it likes to take the whole stack of paper in its reserve at once. This didn't happen when I first got the printer, but now it seems like a regular occurance. So that is a real downfall, I can't write a paper and hit print and then leave the room, I have to be there to feed fresh paper per page while its printing. But hey, like I said you get what you pay for.
All in all, I have had a good experience with this printer. I would recommend it to those of you out there who need a printer, but have a limited budget. I do think that this is a good printer for college students (especially for the price), and for those of you who don't print that often and don't want an expensive printer. But if you print a lot of pages daily I would say that you might want something a little better than this one.
