Pros: fast for portable, very good quality, small, light
Cons: high price, poor software
Canon BJC-50 is fastest from portable printers. It is necessary to mark quite good printing quality, possibility of work in an autonomous mode and also rather modest dimensions and weight. The replacement of the print head and inkwells has not caused difficulties.
The rather compact body is made of dark plastics, work position is horizontal. The access to the printed mechanism is opened with the help of thrower off up translucent cover located on center on the upper board. Here the organs of management - three buttons ("power", "continuation of printing", "replacement of a cartridge") and two indicators ("power" and "charge/error") are located. On the left board of body is window of the infrared sensor and the non-standard interface plug of parallel port (appropriate cable is applied), closed by a rubber cover. On the right board is a round plug for connection of a power supply unit.
The accepting tray in a construction is not stipulated: the printed sheets leave from a slot on a backboard and hit on a surface of desktop. In addition it is possible to acquire the device of selffeeding on 30 sheets and scanning head.
The printing is made in four paints, the type element is executed under the modular scheme: in a removable frame with the print head two inkwells - one with black, and second with three paints are placed. The setting of one black inkwell of a high capacity is stipulated.
I used driver of version 3.95 installed from enclosing disks. There is a possibility to select orientation, type (usual paper, transparent film etc.); format and method of paper feed (manual or selffeeding). In the list of formats are Letter, Legal, A4, A5, B5, and also various envelopes. Besides it is possible to select any format by a breadth from 140,1 up to 241,3 mm and height from 104,1 up to 594,3 mm. The possibility of preservation of two non-standard formats for use hereinafter is stipulated.
It is possible to place required printing quality (draft copy, standard or high), to select options of qualitative printing, and also chromaticity of an image (color or monochrome) and type of the document (auto definition, graphics and text, photo user's set-up). The user's set-up in a monochrome mode allows selecting a type of a raster (regular or stochastic).
Printing quality is enough fine. The listings in all modes differed by good readership and clearness, however for best quality they had brightness slightly.
The image executed in the best mode, has good detail and not bad is balanced, though small problems with colors are appreciable: obvious surplus of yellow color, therefore nuances of dark blue and green colors hardly are distorted. The raster structure practically is indiscernible on an eye; the color gradients are well reproduced.
Essential defect is the absence in a complete set of delivery of the mechanism of selffeeding of carriers (this system as the option is offered separately).
