This is a great printer. I researched photo printers and found the specs for the 870 which was not available in the US as yet, so I waited for it --- and it was well worth the wait.
The photos are stunning - we've scanned photos as well as using the output of our digital camera, customized them on the computer, and printed on the Epson 870 Photo printer. The results are good enough to frame, and we've framed several. It is too soon to see if the longevity of the prints live up to Epson's claims, but if they do - goodbye photo processor!
I highly recommend the Epson glossy, heavyweight photo paper developed for this printer - it produces breath-taking photos. However, even xerox paper prints look good.
I am happy with the text print, granted I'm not too difficult to please, but it looks very good to me. I even like the design of the printer, small and compact. It has both a standard printer plug and a USB plug, and the printing time is OK for my home use. I'm all around happy! The only thing I could have asked for was that a printer cable and a USB cable be included. Why don't printers come with a cable anyway?
