| paulwood's Full Review: Epson Stylus Photo 870 InkJet Printer |
I've been researching photo printers for several months before I finally decided on the EPSON Photo Stylus 870, and I'm very happy with my decision. I've enlarged several of my photos at the kiosk at the local WalMart, and this printer far exceeds that quality. If you print a high resolution photo on EPSON's paper, you will NOT be able to tell the difference between its printout and a lab generated photograph. You can find its features anywhere, so here's a list of my pros and cons:
Pros:
* FANTASTIC pictures. Absolutely unbeatable.
* Very quiet and fast printing.
* EPSON premium paper is comparably priced with other papers.
* Capability to print edge-to-edge from rolls of photo paper.
Cons:
* It sucks ink quickly. Figure roughly 10 8x10 prints before replacing a color cartridge. And you must use EPSON's ink cartridges. Include this in your budget.
* Rumor has it (I haven't seen it) that the cyan ink fades when using the premium glossy paper AND it is exposed to ozone. (EPSON recommends putting prints in sleeves or under glass). This apparently doesn't affect the heavy-weight matte paper, which also look great. Check the EPSON site for more information about this.
Conclusion:
If you're interested in digital photos, this printer is a MUST BUY!
