| captante's Full Review: Epson Stylus Photo 870 InkJet Printer |
I bought this printer to replace my ancient Stylus 600
which finally gave up the ghost after 6 years of heavy use.
My primary use for this printer is photos & in that area
this printer does very well... the results on 8.5 x 11 inch
glossy photo paper at 1440x720 resolution border on photo
lab quality & with the included "snapshot" size paper roll
attachment, printing multiple images is simplified.
Color graphics also get good results from this printer,
full-page cartoon images can produce the same type of image
quality on glossy paper as photos do, taking full advantage
of its 6 color ink. (6 including black)
The only issues I have so far are the ink cartridges,
they are expensive & have a chip on board that makes home
refills more difficult also the text quality on this unit
is just above terrible, not to mention slow...if you print
a lot of text, I suggest a Lexmark Z52/53 which is my other
printer, photo quality pales compared to the 870, but for
text & general printing its a better choice @ 15/16 pages
per min.
