| td99's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Deskjet 952c InkJet Printer |
I am an architecture student, and I often have to print out very intense graphic-laden sheets. I bought the 952c because I, like everyone, read very good reviews about it. I was actually in the market for a larger format capable printer, but the $300 price tag was so reasonable I had to get it.
I have to admit I am upset that people have been having the consistent problems with the paper feeding, because I have never had such problems. I use both standard paper and photo-quality. I have never tried the envelope slot, for I just write the addresses on the envelopes by hand. Perhaps the feeding becomes a problem when the printer is at work constantly, like as a network printer. As a single-computer printer, which I use a couple times a day, I have had no problems.
But I also have many praises to sing for it... I have to put it straight: this is the best photo-quality printer I have ever owned. My last printer was an Alps Dye-Sub and it doesn't even come close to the stuff the 952c spits out. I choose my words carefully: the dye-sub would (automatically) reload the paper three times for one color print, making four passes one in Cyan, one Magenta, One Yellow, and one Black. It would take SO long.
The HP 952c is super-fast. The ink dries fast, too, as with most HP printers (as opposed to Epson) and the quality is staggering. The photographs which I print out of this thing are hands-down like the real thing. People don't beleive me when I tell them I just printed it out. The technology is called PhotoRet or something, and it is supposed to be on an even more refined level than DPI or Dots Per Inch. PhotoRet rocks my world.
It was easy to install, it is very quiet, easy to use, sleek, and works very well. It's too bad two other people (as of 8/8/00) before me have had problems, because mine works great in every way. Maybe I got lucky off the assembly line!
