| webular's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Deskjet 952c InkJet Printer |
Looking for a great printer that won't rob you blind? I purchased the 952C about 6 months ago, and would highly recommend this to just about anyone. I know that my opinion of HP's is a bit biased because for years that's the only ink jet printer I would buy. Again, very glad that I went with it (I work for a retail store, and get to see many of the new printers day in and day out, and I keep an eye out for what customers say, how long the cartridges last, how expensive are cartridges, etc.)
Looking back on the purchase of this printer, I probably would have went with the 932C instead of the 952C, but it's still a great printer.
Pros: Cartridge cost is (in comparison with other printers), very good. By replacing the cartridge you replace the print head every time (which results in better print quality and it's not built in, should anything ever happen to it). It's fast (I have yet to see an ink jet printer print faster, including the 970Cse from HP). The quality is unmatched (it prints great on plain paper, and excellent on photo-glossy paper). It can have the double-sided attachment piece (and like most HP printers, will do double-sided printing without attachment by simply placing the paper back in the printer again). Cancel button on the printer (excellent feature for stopping a bad print, misprint, etc.).
Cons: If you're like me, and don't have a huge workload, never plan on getting the double-sided printing, and don't feel the photo-tray is a big feature, then the 932C is more on the lines of what you should look at. The price of the color cartridge (although not terrible) is a bit high. They do offer the 78D (which is half-filled) and the 78A (which is 'high capacity cartridge), but at the price of the 78A, it's not appealing to most customers. The HP software can be a bit of hassle at first (there is a program that comes with it that will go out and find news feeds and print them automatically, bad idea if you don't want to replace cartridges often).
All in all, it's a great printer, I have always been satisfied with HP quality and cost, and bang for buck, it's a toss-up between this printer and the HP 932C Deskjet.
