| gwsmith's Full Review: Hewlett Packard 2000 Cse InkJet Printer |
Now, I have been using computers and printers since the dawn of time (well, at least since I was 18, back in '85, yessir), and have been exposed to just about every line of HP printers there is. I spent 5 years servicing them for customers, and I can say that no one make a better printer, and that hasn't changed in all of these years.
I am now the proud owner of a very AWESOME printer, the HP 2000C. The version I have is the one with the Kodak Image Enhancement. This little baby has graced my printer stand for about a year now. I have printed out many different types of items: regular text, graphics, color graphics, brochures, and even the glossy black and white pictures my daughter sends to auditions.
Now, here are the basics on the printer:
12PPG black and white (graphics longer, of course)
600dpi black
HP Photo Ret imaging for color and black and white.
Mine is parallel printer cable connected to my desktop, and I have at times run it off of a parallel bypass on a scanner. It has shared printer duties at first with my old HP Laserjet III, but I ditched that when the electric bills came in. The printer comes with the HP ColorSmartII software, which allows for control over the print quality. Also included is the HP Toolkit, which gives ink level indicators, troubleshooting tips, and works as an interface to the maintenance options on the printer.
Recently, I started printing the glossy pictures that my daughter needs for auditions. She attends an acting school, and we had her pictures taken in high-res black and white. Instead of paying between 10-15 dollars for each 8X10 picture, I was able to print off very high quality prints on glossy HP Premium paper. I get 16 for the price of one from the photo place. The teachers at the acting school can’t believe the quality of the pictures.
Other niceties: The black cartridge is separate. This is the most used one, and on some ink printers this is combined in one unit with the color. The unit is very quiet, and the drivers interface with Windows and all my apps without a hitch.
One minor negative: Watch the ink levels. The Toolkit will notify you when they get low, but I have gotten at least 50 additional pages of heavy black out of the cartridge once I got the message.
