| Hakushi's Full Review: Hewlett Packard PhotoSmart p1100xi InkJet Printer |
I was shopping around at the local Circuit City last week, pricing new receivers, and I came across the HP p100cxi photo printer. I initially scoffed out loud at the price, even though the appearance was just my style, but soon after I had a chance to really look this printer over, I had to have it. It was a out of budget purchase at nearly $490 but my wife and I were both excited too finally have a printer that could print photos with such precision.
I've been using it constantly over the last week it not only does photos but anything else you could possibly want. This printer has the ability to print photos right from the camera and save it too!!! No PC required! Best of all the quality comes out terrific with any paper!
The HP has two paper trays, one is the letter size and the other holds 4x6 photos. The quality is 600 dpi with Ret. for black and up to 2400x1200 dpi for color.
It is compatible with even older computers (such as mine) with modest system requirements. They are Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0 with a pentium 133 or higher, 16mb ram (32 for NT), 150mb free disk space, 256 color display and a 4x cd-rom.
It takes a little reading and preparing to properly use this machine, as there are so many features that it's hard to figure out the correct procedures without the trusty manual. There are many things that the prompts on the screen will take you through, even notifying you of an odd decision, but some of them can be a little deceiving. So, like I said, it's best to have the manual close by.
I have done everything possible with this printer and it has never performed below perfection. The iron on transfers are clear and bright, the photos are worth the price alone over time and it, of course, does all the ordinary print jobs as well.
The HP Photosmart also has a really modern appearance with all the bells and whistles. For business or personal use this is the printer to own.
