Pleased and Printing Photos

We purchased the Photosmart after reading many reviews about other printers on several sites. It seemed that the highest rated ones one one site were panned on other sites so it was a tough choice. We finally agreed that the Photosmart looked like the best compromise between features, cost/page (consumables), and initial cost.
After placing the order we ended up waiting three weeks for delivery because it was on backorder. Once it finally came it was very easy to hook up and get working. The prints came out spectacular and the software for laying out the prints is good too. The photo editor that comes with the printer is a bit weak so I downloaded Paint Shop Pro which works great.
The Photo paper supplied worked well but there was only a few sheets so we hit Costco and got 100 glossy for about $20 which should last us through a few paint cartridges. The only main downside (besides initial price) that I can see is that all three colors are in one cartridge and if you print too many pictures with one color you'll have to replace the cartridge without using the rest of the colors.
The print speed seems fairly decent -- it kicks out a 8.5 x 11 sheet at high quality in about 2 minutes and it prints B/W text pages in about 10 seconds which is not blazingly fast but still is ok for our normal printing tasks.
The other thing that impressed me was its flexibility in printing on different media. I had some old Avery tractor-feed labels that were about 12 years old that I fed into it and it had no problem at all. I printed labels for Christmas cards and was able to include a small picture of my son dressed like Santa on the right side of the label. They came out looking very nice and we got several compliments on them.
