I recently purchased the P1215, and I am completely happy with my choice. I have had an HP for about 5 years and was thinking of trying something different. So I researched printers for a few weeks before I decided on this one.
From what read from professional reviews, HP sets the standard for picture quality. Other manufactures try hard to imitate the quality but fall short. If you want the best, just buy and HP.
In regards to the 1215, I read that it lived up to the HP name and delivered unrivaled picture quality. After purchasing and using it, I can definitely attest to that. I still can not believe the quality of the pictures that this printer puts out. As a graduate student, I am constantly printing out papers and reports. The 1215 prints black text close to laser print quality, it's very crisp! It also prints black text very quickly as well, something we all can appreciate. Also, older HP's had a tendency to be a bit loud when loading paper. This printer is very quiete, no cluncky loading at all.
This printer also has some great features, such as automatic paper detection (can tell what type of paper you are using, like photo paper or regular paper); and slots on the side for compact flash and smart media cards so you can load and print pictures without using your computer.
If you want the best in printers, buy an HP. the $400 you'll pay upfront will definitely pay off in the long run with the quality of this printer.
