I have owned my P8 for almost a year and have pretty much come to regret the purchase. I have owned several laser printers before this one and unfortunately I have to say that the P8 is the worst of the bunch.
What I like about the printer: small footprint - born to be placed on the desk; very silent; easy to setup and operate; excellent software support (except it does not have a driver for Windows 2000); fair paper handling.
What I don't like is unfortunately also the most important feature of a printer: the print quality and quantity. A new cartridge does not last very long and the print quality is not consistent. Streaks and lines are common - print jobs consisting of more than 10 pages will very often make the last pages fade a bit or streak. The cartridges are way too expensive ($80 at Staples) and my experience is that they do not last as long as advertised by Xerox. I have discussed this with the technical service department at Xerox and they claim that I am wrong or that I am printing more graphics and thus using the toner faster. Whether they are correct or not does not change the fact that the OKI laser printer I had a couple of years ago had better print quality and I hardly ever had to change the cartridge.
