Pros: Fast printing, good text quality printing, trusted name.
Cons: Expensive toner cartridge, doesn't handle cardstock, not good with graphics.
The Bottom Line: Great every day printer from a trusted name. Not for the person who prints heavily since toner replacement is expensive. Finally supports XP.
I've had the Xerox P8 printer for over two years now. I'm not a heavy printer but I've only had to replace the toner cartridge once. I do wish someone would have told me it was going to be expensive.
The P8 prints about 8 ppm in B&W. Handles fonts well. No complaints in the actual performance of the printer. Its held up well. No USB connection. The printer does have two parrallel ports so one printer can be connected to two differect PC's.
The printer was on the shelf for about 6 months after I upgraded to XP. It took Xerox awhile to release XP compatible drivers. Xerox did supply a "work around" but I wasn't comfortable with making the changes Xerox told me to do. When Xerox finally did release XP drivers for the P8 they were easy to download and install. In fact with XP Service Pack 1 that was just released, XP will automatically install the correct drivers.
The P8 handles regular paper. Other papers like cardstock are just too heavy for the printer to process and the ink doesn't adhere to the paper and smears.
