| jagundo's Full Review: Creative Technology Blaster CD-RW 6424 Burner |
After looking for both price and performance, I compared this model to the high end burners in the market today. The Creative Labs CD-RW Blaster 6424 is a 24x6x4 internal IDE drive. The install is pretty quick and simple with compatible driver "Hey there is a thought".
It is worth nothing that this CD-RW comes with Ahead’s Nero Burning software instead of the usual Adaptec Easy CD Creator. I was a little dismayed since the Adaptec software is a bit easier to use. Its relatively easy to get started using the wizards and the documentation. It is well laid out and easy to follow.
After creating a few test CD’s, I was impressed with its speed. No buffer underrun error to worry about because of it's cache system built in on the drive. It even came with an added bonus in the box: an ultra fine permanent ink-marking pen. This comes in very handy for labeling the contents of newly burned CDs.
I recommend this as a starter burner for those just wanting something simple. It will perform to expectations without any hardware failures. Anyway, for the price, you really can't go wrong. Now if you really want some serious piece of gear, you should read up on Yamaha's SCSI burners. But that is a whole separate discussion.
