I have now had my iomega 12x4x32 zip cd for 2 weeks. After no less than 2 dozen attempts, I have NOT been able to burn a cd with the software that comes with product. Somehow, Iomega in their very limited wisdom, managed to ruin the well known Adaptec Easy CD Creator software.
The problem is that after a few tracks, the software locks the entire computer. I have even gone to the point of reinstalling Windows to make the burner work - the software is just plain bad on some systems. The proof is in the support forums at Iomega. A brief look through the "Using the Zip CD" section shows that many people are having the exact same problem.
Also, it appears that Iomega does not have one clue as to how solve the software problem. My repeated attempts at contact (4 emails in the last 2 weeks) have gone unanswered. Others, who have relayed their support advice through the above-mentioned support forums have stated that support had them do "seemingly non-relevant" thing to their systems in their failed attempts to correct the system.
Morale of the story: avoid the Zip CD 650 like the plague and you may want to avoid iomega altogether judging simply by their care of their customers.
