Pros: Works as advertised.
Cons: 6X read is really slow by today's standards.
The Bottom Line: Basic CDRW drive. (Don't expect it to perform miracles) Purchase only if you need to use with laptop, or need one drive for PC and MAC.

| magnusmx's Full Review: Iomega ZipCD CD-RW Burner |
Software:
Basic EZ CD Creator software. At least upgrade to deluxe or get Ahead Nero if you are serious about burning CDs. Pretty basic stuff here. What's the deal with providing a software (some automatic backup software) for you to 'try' before you buy when you THOUGHT that it was included (guess I should have read the fineprint)? Its adding insult to injury
Speed:
Burns at 4x in both CDrs and CDRWs. This can be considered yesteryear's CD burner. We have reached speeds of 16X / 10Xrw cd burning.
Portability:
I'd say about average. You have to carry the power adapter to get it working, and the drive is a full half height drive, so don't expect to put it in your jacket pocket.
Installation:
Installation was straight-forward as long as you follow directions. Install the software FIRST! Then Plug in the drive.
Looks:
Definitely looks cooler than the usual beige color on most CD burners. I gave it above average only because it adds a little color to my life.
Relability:
No problems yet. Bit the drive does feel a little flimsy being that it is housed in Iomega's purple plastic.
Features:
Not fully supported by CloneCD ;(. No CD text read or write. Also it would be nice if there were Audio CD play functions on the drive.
Hmm, no on/off button.
Connections:
Basic USB connection, and phono sound output.
Reason for purchasing:
Was cheapest namebrand CDRW drive at the time for laptops. Looked cooler than the HP version, but looking back, I should have got the HP drive just for the better support and CD Text support.
Recommended:
Yes
Amount Paid (US$): 150.00 Operating System: Windows and Macintosh
