| TommyGrrlX's Full Review: Iomega ZIP 100 MB Parallel Port (32009) External Z... |
I got my Iomega external parallel port ZIP drive about two months ago. And now I can't live without it...
I've gotten to where I get a lot of small programs off the internet. Shareware, or freeware is great. But when I go to my other computer, I don't have the slightest clue where I downloaded it from. My ZIP drive solved that problem. Just save the installation/setup file, save it on to the ZIP, and take it over to the other computer! I couldn't live without it now... Disks are a little pricey, but if you're looking for just storage, they'll do fine. Backing up my computer would take close to 20 ZIP 100 disks, so I'd be out close to $200 but it might mean protecting all my data. It is the only thing that stores MP3's too... holds about 30 of them.
My only problem with it is that it takes full control of the parallel port. You can't use a scanner with it. The printer works fine, but if you have your printer plugged into your scanner and your scanner plugged into the ZIP, and the ZIP into the computer, the ZIP and the scanner won't work. So, it's the ZIP or the scanner. And I have a Rio also... So, I have to unplug from my parallel port all the time. But it's not such a problem.
