| MARIEROY's Full Review: SYQT SyQuest SparQ (SPARQ1AI-01) Drive |
I purchased four of the SparQ 1.0 GB drives through auctions. I found that they are primarily pre-Windows 98 but drivers are available with an easy download.
I've installed them on 486 machines with DOS, and other machines with Windows 95 flawlessly. Windows 98 installation requires downloading a file and inserting it into a Windows directory. All in all, a fairly easy task.
The units have 1 gig removable cartridges with 1 included with the basic unit. For the price, you really can't go wrong. On the included disk there is some software included, basically of the utility and game nature.
The units that I am reviewing are the parallel port type. Essentially you plug the unit into the printer port and plug your printer into a port on the back of the SparQ drive. The units are very solid and appear to be very well made. The disks are also very durable. Everything about the unit indicates that they are very well made.
These are ideal units for saving digital files and musical files without using up your hard drive space. Again, for the money I don't think you can go wrong.
The only negatives would be the fact that the cartridges are peculiar to this particular drive. You cannot use them on other drives.
These drives come in both internal, and external modes.
