| freebird91's Full Review: SYQT SyQuest SparQ (SPARQ1AI-01) Drive |
I purchased a Sparq drive a couple years ago when I heard about how much space they could hold, thought I was in for a good deal eh? Heh not a chance, lol. I was at first, but as time went along I noticed that the disks were getting spit out, and one even decided to shoot out like a rocket (talk about manners hehe). I think I used this for about a year and after a restoration on my Hard Drive I started having problems with the Disks even reading. Therefore I figured my component was done for and just needed replaced, well I found myself buying a "NEW" one in ebay for about 60 bucks and decided I would use it long enough to save all my info I had to a CD. I hooked everything up and that was a joke. Now I see why Syquest went out of business, poor design and not much thought put into this device. I thought about grabbing a third one but decided to just save up for a Zip or an ORB drive.
I have talked to a few people who had the same problems as me with this product and they have made it clear that from now on they will start checking Epinions to see what everyone is saying before spending that hard earned check. I know I am :-)
In closing I am giving this product a 1 and that's pretty bad when I have to do this because I know there are a few people out there who have had a Sparq for several years and no problems yet. (I wish I was one of them hehe). A good idea for those who do a lot of work away from the office, but this was a disaster in my opinion. I think Syquest could've spent a little more time developing this product and not having such a disappointment in the customers, I know I would've.
