| tdeletto's Full Review: SYQT SyQuest SparQ (SPARQ1AI-01) Drive |
Yes, Syquest is out of business, Chapter 11. They still exist in some form and claim they can still fix drives. Sparq drives can still be had and the media is still readily available.
The Sparq drive is, hands down, the best of the removable storage, external drives. Zip disks are flaky, Jaz drives don't measure up.
Sadly, Syquest just couldn't keep it together as a business. They had the best product and the best technology, but they never reached critical mass. Zip drives should never have won this battle.
Syquest and Iomega had been duking it out for years before the Zip drive came out and Syquest usually won. Syquest was the standard for print shops for years.
Unfortunately, the time for drives like this has passed. As much as I like my Sparq drive, unless you have a specific need you will be better served with a good CDRW drive and CDRW discs.
Sorry Syquest.
