I bought the Acer 620P online for $80 with a $20 rebate from Acer this past January. I had owned a couple scanners before both for $100 or less. I have to say I am pleased with the 620P's performance considering its price. It delivers quality pictures. It may not be fast (scans an average size photo at 200dpi in less than 30 seconds) and it may take some size in order to get a high definition scan, but I dont really see the reason for paying over $150 for anything better. Unless you are doing crime lab analysis, this scanner will make the grade. It makes scans suitable for email or webpage use and I have even gotten my cannon photo printer to make some "almost cant tell its not a photo" 8x10 blowups of Photographs suitable for framing. The Textbridge software that it comes with does a great job of OCR if the text is in good shape when you scan it. The Kai's Soap software is comparable to Photoshop and every bit as powerful. The scanner interface is a bit awkward and may take some time to read up on if you want to do anything other than scan the picture straight-up, but it also has alot of features, which once you learn them are helpful. I have yet to have it crash my system yet which a few other scanner interfaces have done.
All in all, for the price you can't go wrong.
