The scanner is reasonably easy to use, you'll need to select most settings yourself. This will give you control over the finished scanned picture, but it also means you have to put in some time and effort to get the best results. Once you use it for a while it will become easy to use.
To start scanning, you will have to launch the TWAIN driver through an application, such as Ulead iPhoto Plus, (Bundled software) that supports this interface. You will then run a preview scan, adjust the selection to set the scan area, and check the settings for image type (gray scale, color, or line art), quality or speed, and resolution. There are other settings, use default settings, or manual settings such as contrast, brightness, and color balance.
This scanner does a very nice job as far as quality, the big plus in my book is the USB hook up. My old scanner had a card I had to install and it worked pretty good, a lot of my friends got a parallel hook up scanner and had all kinds of problems. USB is the easiest and most reliable way to go with any brand of scanner.
