For those of you looking for a scanner to buy, I would recommend the ScanJet 5300C. This is the first scanner I've ever purchased and I am VERY satisfied and delighted with what I bought. I love taking pictures, keeping photo albums as well as displaying photos in my house, and enjoy lots of crafts that deal with pictures. Not only is it very easy to use, but the quality is great. I almost went with the next higher hp scanjet, but decided that I did not really need the other accessories that they came with them and this one had almost exactly the same basic features for a lot less money.
I scanned many of my 4x6 photos and then printed them out and it looks almost like the original! I put the scanned pictures in my frames and people come over and think it is the original picture!:) The scan time is not that long, less than a minute usually for each object.
Also, the four buttons in the front make using the scanner very fast and easy...whether you want to scan something, print, e-mail, or fax something, you just have to press the button you want and voila, it starts working.
There's not much more to say except that I am very happy with it and think that anyone who is a first time buyer would enjoy this product also.
