I was introduced to these Cambridge speakers through the purchase of blasterpc. Cambridge is a reliable brand and I bet those who know Hi-fi will surely hear of this brand. Sadly, the founder of Cambridge soundworks, Henry Kloss depart this world few months ago, but he will never be forgotten of his works audio which include this FPS 2000 speakers.
Real experience with this speakers
Connected to sound card audigy, these speakers work flawlessly. Every frequency range is being heard with precise accuracy. Unlike other speakers, which really amplify, bass range and totally "filter off" treble range or vice-versa, these speakers combine both range wonderfully without distortion. If you are using any software sound mixer, echoes, environmental effects will be dutifully presented without producing any sound of its own. This is because of the way the speakers are being designed. Subwoofer is built with wooden cabinet, which is the minimum requirement for speakers to sound decent at least without the lame rattling of plastic cabinet. Sadly, the satellite speakers are made of plastic which can cause the infamous howling noise when tune to the highest volume. Playing games on its is truly an enjoyable experience. The four satellite speakers distinguish every channel with high precision, which does not deplete the purpose of having four channels. The speakers had a bass knob, which is truly a monster. Turn it to just 12 O clock level and neighbors will knock your door telling you to stop. A wired remote control knob is also a great add-on for convenient adjustment. An included digital din plug is also a luxury, which you can’t find from other vendors.
Cons
The chassis has no design, just square. The stands are cheap and unstable and I had knock over the speakers a couple of times. Luckily, they are durable.
Last words.
Cheap, good, what more can one ask for. Buy it while stocks last and as a tribute to Henry Koss`s work.
