"Gee whiz!" is what you might say after hearing these awesome little speakers. This is full impact sound in a small and CHEAP package. I replaced my old Yamaha speakers that I bought before most PCs even had sound cards. The Cambridge system puts them to shame.
The set includes a subwoofer and two satellites. You can place the sub on the floor near your computer system and the satellites can go just about anywhere; on the desk, the wall, Velcro'd to the side of your monitor, anywhere. This is especially useful when deskspace is at a premium.
As far as sound quality goes, these are great sounding speakers given their purpose. Good channel separation and reasonably detailed mids and highs. The subwoofer is fairly boomy and only seems to know about 3 notes. However, the sound of this system when compared to other PC speaker systems is terrific. Many satellite systems for PCs tend to be so boomy that they are un-listenable for anything but gaming. The Cambridge system is great for music and games alike.
Best of all is the price. After applying a $10 discount at Buy.com, I paid about $27 for my speakers. That's a price that's hard to beat for sound that's quite respectable. I definitely recommend these speakers to anyone looking to upgrade from the usual cheap box of magnets that come with many computer systems.
