The JBL system is an excellent choice for multimedia users. This includes gamers and music lovers. However, I would not recommend this system to a sound mixing amateur/professional. The target of this system is for the multimedia home user. It is well worth it's price.
Newer buyers: I just want to let you know that this system is by JBL, a well-known speaker manufacturer. This means you can be insured that it is a quality product, not just a generic-brand.
The complete set includes a bass speaker and two satellite speakers. Included are power cables, remote level cables, and a speaker connecting cable.
The only speaker with a control on it, is on one of the satellites. (Satellites are individual speakers, usually one on the left, one on the right, for newer speaker buyers). All the satellite speakers are swivel-able, in three positions. The bass speaker has almost no moving parts at all.
On the control speaker there are knobs for volume, treble and bass.
The bass speaker is pretty strong, and the satellites have a teeter on top for high-pitched sounds. This, combined, is a great sound system.
The speakers also have a SLEEP feature. This means that when you don't use the sound for a bit, it inactivates its speaker system. This saves a LOT of electricity. However, the only negative to this, is when you start using sounds again, it takes about 5/100th of a second to warm up. While doing this, it makes a zipper-like sound.
This set is plug-n-play for any Windows 95+/NT/2K system with a sound card installed. You just plug it in, like any ordinary speaker. No special functions needed.
I also dropped the speaker once, from about 4 feet.. Nothing happened! These are signs of quality construction, while maintaining an averagely-good price.
