| maxntropy's Full Review: Logitech SoundMan X1 2 Speakers |
I admit it. When it comes to my computer I get the best...I spoil myself...some might say I overdo it. I disagree. I spend a great deal of my time on my computer (most of it working) and I choose to make the experience as pleasant as the current technology can make it. I make sure I have the best keyboard offered, the best trackball offered, the top-of-the-line ergonomic relax-the-back recliner...you get it. When I first got my new Mac G3 I knew the built-in speaker (while good) wasn't gonna hack it. Not only do I enhance my general day-to-day computing with some nice background sounds, but I planned to be using the built-in CD-ROM drive to be listening to some tunes while I worked. So I got some nice color-coordinated bookshelf speakers to enhance the aural component of my computing experience. While they helped, it clearly wasn't sufficient to my immersive computing experience needs. So I started looking around. I did my homework. It became clear that I had two basic options -- a VERY expensive home theater quality system with multiple speakers and a sub-woofer, or a multimedia-oriented system with or without sub-woofer. I already have a very satisfactory home theater system when I want to enjoy music for music's sake, and I already had one set of bookshelf-size speakers for my computer. My choice was clear -- a pair of additional speakers and a soobwoofer. After checking out the specs, reading some reviews, and finding any and all information I coud....Logitech stood out as the clear winner.
When you hear the quality of the sound, feel the depth of the bass, and experience the superior looks and feel of the design...you simply won't believe the price. I STILL don't believe the price. You can currently get the SoundMan X1 with an instant rebate for only $49.95. From the quality you'd expect one of the speakers to go for that with the whole system costing something like $199.95. Wow! Such a bargain! I'm Verklempt! Talk amongst yourselves!.......
As to the value, I can't tell you how much of a difference the SoundMan makes to my computing time. It really helps the whole immersion-thing.
If you are even THINKING about upgrading your system, I URGE you to stop hesitating and order the SoundMan system. You really will notice a world of difference in the quality of the time you spend on your computer.
